Later, I met my most influential teachers Katiza Satya and Kevin Sahaj while traveling in Bali in 2013. They helped me to connect with the spiritual and philosophical aspect of my yoga practice.

I began practicing Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga almost 20 years ago in Berkeley. Since that time, I’ve discovered many teachings and teachers that have kept me inspired to keep learning and growing with my practice. In 2005, I discovered Kundalini yoga while experiencing the demands of grad school. This practice taught me about the concept of a householder’s yoga and the magic of mediation. I believe that if we carve out a moment for ourselves every day, we will clarify our needs, find contentment, and experience joy.
When I’m not teaching yoga, you’ll most likely find me: Hanging out with my toddler, baking, reading sci-fi, or loom weaving.

I originally came to yoga as an additional form of exercise. After practicing for a few weeks, I noticed a mental and emotional shift in my life, and a positive change in the way I interacted with the world around me. Yoga quickly became part of my lifestyle, and I am grateful for the ability to share my passion and knowledge as an instructor. I recognize the tremendous benefits that a regular yoga practice brings into one's life - I encourage everyone to give it a try. My focus while teaching is to provide a safe, judgement-free zone where both new and seasoned yogis, alike, may develop a stronger connection with their mind, body, and spirit -on and off the mat. In addition to yoga, I am a certified Reiki practitioner, Vibrational Sound Therapist, lover of nature and music.

The quiet solitude of yoga enthralled me from a young age, and I celebrate and explore many kinds of yoga. While teaching high school in Houston and receiving my Master’s degree, I fell in love with Baptiste yoga and practiced daily to relieve mental stress and physical tension. Forrest yoga was my next discovery, and it provided immense physical and emotional healing for me. Through a connection at my school, I discovered a yoga teacher training specifically catered to school teachers, and with that came a radical shift. I relocated to Los Angeles to teach yoga and bring the joy and peace of yoga to local schools, offices, communities.

In 2011, yoga found me when I was lost and confused about my career as a personal trainer, and it began answering a lot of questions I didn’t know I was asking. It surfaced new questions about myself and life as I knew it. To me, yoga is more than a physical exercise, it’s a lifestyle. It’s about balancing mind, body and spirit in any given moment, no matter what I’m doing. My goal as a teacher is to create a space where people can move freely without judgement or hesitation and share with them everything I’ve learned. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me: rock climbing, hiking and exploring the outdoors with my dogs, running, and being a wild child of Planet Earth. Dogs/Cats: All animals! Though, I have two dogs: Ares and Mouse. To me, Madre means: connecting with our feminine energy, freedom, and community. Currently Playing: Thunder by Imagine Dragons
